Our historic Meeting House
was badly damaged by fire in March 2005. The cost of restoration is covered by our insurers, so the building will once again offer its tranquil beauty to Quakers and others from far and near as a place of worship and pilgrimage.

The 20th Century Extension
was largely destroyed. Our insurers will contribute its replacement value, but ‘as it was’ would not meet our present and future needs.

The cost of these improvements
will be £500,000 over and above the insurance moneys. Towards this huge sum local Quakers and other well-wishers have so far pledged over £345,000. In addition, Quaker and other trusts have contributed £57,000, so that we are 80% of the way to our target. Will you please help us to achieve the balance?

We can and should do better
The 17th century Meeting House reminds us of and is our base for continuing the many years of Quaker worship, witness and outreach.

The New Extension
will enable us to make practical contributions to our neighbours and the wider world. We want to house educational, arts and community, peace and reconciliation activities - and to welcome visitors to this historic site. To achieve this, we must make improvements; better space for meetings; small conferences and children's area; an easily accessible library and resource room; display areas; kitchen and  lavatories meeting  current safety and hygiene standards and facilities, including a lift, to make our building user-friendly for those with disabilities.
